Since 1998, the Maryland Budget & Tax Policy Institute has been a respected organization in state policy circles. Our reports, testimony, and outreach programs have helped move policy issues that affect low- and moderate-income Marylanders to the forefront of conversation and action.

You might use the Institute’s timely, credible, and independent analyses in the work you do to improve quality-of-life across the state, or to keep yourself informed about state finances without the need to dig through reams of data, or to rely on the mass media. Our new monthly policy reports address the issues you should be keeping in mind throughout the year, while our special alerts are keeping you updated on emerging issues and trends. Hopefully, in the past few months, you’ve already seen:

  • Left Behind in the Budget Debate;
  • Special Session Wrap-Up: Maryland’s Unfinished Financial Symphony;
  • The Governor’s Budget: On the Surface, No Surprises; and our much awaited
  • Regular Person’s Guide to the Governor’s Budget.

These are, of course, in addition to the numerous reports and testimonies you can find on our website.

The generous foundation grants that sustain our work are not enough.  A sizable and diverse community of supporters shows policy makers and major donors that the B&T Institute’s research and advocacy matters to informed citizens. With additional resources, the Institute could initiate some major new projects, including:

  • Showcasing a wider variety of voices on state policy issues, including thoughtful commentators from the advocacy and academic worlds;
  • Exploring strategies to significantly reduce poverty in the state; and
  • Using new media, such as web-based video and computer simulation, to communicate the importance of public investments to a tech-savvy generation.

Please make your tax deductible financial contribution today to the Maryland Budget & Tax Policy Institute, to support our work.  Help us build on the Institute’s accomplishments, to continue to create the high-impact analyses and reports that the nonprofit sector so urgently needs.

Thank you for donating to the Institute. We promise to be good stewards of your generosity.
