Raise Your Hand If You Think THIS Is a Good Idea
The resolution passed by the U.S. House Budget Committee calls for $106 billion more in tax cuts over the next five years. These cuts would be targeted at higher income Americans.
At the same time, they call for $18.7 billion in cuts from programs overseen by the Ways and Means Committee. What would be cut? Budget Committee Chairman Jim Nussle mentioned only one program: the Earned Income Credit, a refundable tax credit that provides tax relief and wage subsidies to low-income working families. It's only the most successful anti-poverty program that we have for working families
Summary: more than $100 billion more in tax cuts for rich people, and almost $20 billion in tax increases for people working at the bottom.
And that may not be the most egregious part of the House budget. Basically, big defense spending increases, big tax cuts, big deficits, and gutting programs and services that help our communities and working families.Do YOU think that’s a good idea?
