Maryland's 2007 Operating Budget

On March 27, 2006, the Maryland General Assembly passed Senate Bill 110, the operating budget for Fiscal Year 2007, which began July 1, 2006. 

  • The operating budget totals $13.2 billion (not including reserve funds).
  • In 2007, Maryland’s total spending will grow by 10%.

Welfare & Social Programs - This Budget Brief is an analysis of the budget for Maryland's Department of Human Resources. Spending for this department accounts for 6% of the state's General Fund budget. 05/24/2006

The Institute Testifies on the Merits of House Bill 346, Tax Relief for Low Income Marylanders. The bill would increase the refundable earned income credit on state income taxes for low-income families.  This credit rewards work, increases employment, and reduces poverty.  This bill is supported by the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations, of which the Institute is a part. 02/16/2006 >>Download our press release
